A December 12, 2018 article in The New York Times demonstrates the importance of having a proper estate plan in place. Luckily, Pat Bowlen, owner of the Denver Broncos, created a trust with his estate planning lawyer decades prior to being diagnosed with Alzheimer’s. Therefore, when he was diagnosed with Alzheimer’s, and no longer able to control the team, the three trustees of his trust took over. The trust was Bowlen’s way of insuring that the N.F.L. team would remain in his family, even if/when he became incapacitated.

Although Bowlen was able to keep the Bronco’s in the family , there is now news of a dispute between Bowlen’s daughter and the trustees of his trust.  To read the entire article, click here.
