A February 8, 2017 New York Times article states that only 42% of American adults have a will. This data was taken from a  survey that was published on Caring.com. Why do less than half of American adults have an estate plan? According to the survey, nearly half of the participants stated that the reason they did not have a will was because they hadn’t gotten around to it. The survey revealed that the older people get, the more likely they are to have estate planning documents. This makes sense. Florida probate attorneys understand that many people, especially young people, do not want to think about death. Therefore, it makes sense that, in general, younger people are not as motivated as elderly people to consult with a West Palm Beach estate planning attorney. According to the survey, “just one in five millennials — adults 18 to 36 — has a will.” However, 81 percent of people 72 and older have one. To read the entire article, click here
