post about Rockstar Chris Cornell Tragically Passes Away

The New York Times reported on May 18, 2017 that Chris Cornell, best known as the lead rocker in Soundgarden, had passed away. The article states that it is believed that the Rockstar committed suicide by hanging himself. He was only 52 years old at the time of his death. Did he have a will?

This amazing rock legend probably left more than just much desired music. He possibly left very valuable intellectual property, like Prince did. This intellectual property could include the rights to his songs, recordings, and images. Did Cornell create an estate plan before he committed suicide? Did he talk to an estate planning attorney to insure that his wife and children were taken care of?  Who inherits Cornell’s property? Who inherits his estate? Will there be probate litigation? Will the beneficiaries hire probate lawyers? When planning your estate plan, be extra careful to include valuable intellectual property or valuable items, such as famous paintings. This will hopefully help keep the probate administration and litigation costs to a minimum.
