post about Family Inheritances: Carrie Fisher’s Mom Dies One Day After Her

CNN reports that Debbie Reynolds, Carrie Fisher’s mom, passed away just one day after Carrie Fisher. Reynolds had complained of breathing problems and was struggling from the loss of her daughter. This has presumably been a tragic week for their family, especially for Billie Lourd, Fisher’s daughter. Will Lourd inherit everything from her mother’s estate? What will she inherit from her grandmother’s estate?

The Sun reports that Fisher’s estate is worth around $25 million and Reynolds estate is worth around $50 million. Carrie Fisher’s brother, Todd Fisher, was quoted by the media saying that Billie can have anything she wants from her mother’s estate. Although family members are often friendly at first, probate litigation lawyers know that disputes can arise. Todd Fisher further told the media that a trust is set up but that they are all “pretty well off”. What does the trust consist of? Was this trust set up by Fisher or Reynolds? Who are the beneficiaries of this trust? Hopefully, both Fisher and Reynolds had solid estate plans in place. Their estate planning lawyers should have set everything up so that the estates can be probated quickly and easily. Even if they do have solid estate plans, there is still the possibility that someone may contest the will, if there is one. Will Billie Lourd really get everything she wants from these sizeable estates? To read the entire article, click here.
