Occupy Central Reminds Us Not To Take Our Freedoms for Granted

Uncategorized Jul 4, 2014

I was in Hong Kong on the day that “Occupy Central” was just getting under way.

800,000 protestors converged a few blocks from our hotel to demand more freedoms, and free elections, from China.

We then set off to Beijing and now sit in the British Airway executive lounge, ready to return to the USA on Independence Day.

We must not just be grateful for our freedoms in America, but also for the rule of law.  ….the ability to object to our government, to speak out, to criticize and to make change.  Law is the glue that holds us all together, which preserves our freedoms and provides us all with an opportunity–the mechanism– to be heard before an impartial, objective tribunal.

My West Palm Beach law firm does not handle Constitutional law.  We handle probate & business lawsuits.   But we try not to forget that as probate & business litigators, we are helping our clients exercise their freedoms, which other countries don’t provide.
