Casey Kasem (1932-2014) Passes: will there be estate litigation over $$$?

Casey Kasem, the multi-millionaire who created “American Top 40’s” and such catch phrases as “And now….. back to the countdown” and “Keeping your feet on the ground, but keeping reaching for the stars” passed away at the age of 82.

• Kasem’s daughter was appointed conservator, what in Florida we might refer to as a guardian of the person or even one with health care powers and authority (under a health care power of attorney or designation of health care surrogate)
• Kasem had suffered from dementia
• The Wall Street Journal reported that there was a protracted legal disagreement or dispute between his children and Kasem’s second wife
• Florida guardianship lawyers know all too well about family members disagreeing over one being guardian or making decisions on behalf of one who needs assistance
• Florida probate litigators, if polled, might guess that estate litigation is around the corner, but who knows?
