How many months or years does it take to administer a Florida estate? And without sounding too much like a lawyer, it depends. This conception, or mis-perception about an estate that goes on and on for years and years and drags on, doesn’t seem to be the case. We try to get estates wrapped up as fast as possible.

Now, it may drag on for years if there’s excessive litigation that can’t be resolved, if there’s a long, long income tax or estate tax controversy with the IRS that’s not being taken care of, or not being resolved. But generally speaking, if you have to file an estate tax, you’re going to need at least a year. You probably will be done in under two years if there’s no litigation or anything out there that would prohibit you from closing the estate sooner.
