How to Increase your Trust Distributions

If you’re a trust beneficiary, an important topic to you may be how much money you receive from your trustee. So how can you increase the amount of money, your trust distribution, which you receive from your trust or your trustee?

It does depend on a few factors, including what the trust document says. Are you getting income? Are you getting principal? When are you entitled to get that money? Does the trustee have discretion, which it can exercise, over giving you money or not giving you money? What money are you asking for?

With that said, after you’ve considered those circumstances, there is a mechanism under Florida Trust Law, if you’re a beneficiary, to increase the percentage that you get from that trust.
