Gay Marriage and Inheritance Rights

A year ago the United States Supreme Court outlawed DOMA, the Defense of Marriage Act, in essence paving the way for gay marriage everywhere, although not in Florida. We still have some legal hurdles to overcome, because gay marriage is still outlawed here. When that hurdle falls, when that goes down, it will create literally millions and billions of dollars in inheritance rights for spouses of gay couples. If your spouse passes away and you are validly married to that person, you have inheritance rights. Know what your rights are.
