Doma is Dead: Creating Same Sex Inheritance Rights

The Defense of Marriage Act has been declared unconstitutional. We’re approaching a year of the landmark decisions before the Supreme Court in June of 2013. What does this mean? Well, most of the pundits seem to be focused on whether gay people can marry or not. I’m focused on the inheritance rights that are created when gay people are allowed to marry. Now, if you’ve been validly married in another state that permits gay marriage, you have inheritance rights even here in Florida which has outlawed gay marriage.
